#The flash season 5 episode 15 series
It certainly didn’t hurt that the writers placed such a heavy emphasis on fleshing out his human side and bringing an extra layer of sympathy to one of the series more outlandish villains. Thankfully, the deeper this episode got into the actual King Shark v. But again, on closer examination the logic doesn’t really hold up here. It’s a welcome change from the days when they used to throw criminals in the particle accelerator and lose the key. On what world is a guy who’s made it his life’s mission to murder every metahuman in the city going to willingly give up the only thing that makes his crusade possible? I appreciate the desire not to paint Team Flash as authoritarian bullies choosing who gets powers and who doesn’t. Worse is the revelation that Barry is going to offer Cicada the cure. The whole situation called for more nuance than this episode was able to deliver. Barry’s decision to use the cure on King Shark is treated like a serious moral failing, despite the fact that Cisco was literally seconds away from being squeezed to death by a giant shark monster. The problem is that it’s hard to buy into some of the character logic. That’s probably a necessary focal point given the nature of this storyline and the ethics behind stripping metahumans of their powers. At this stage, it seems more likely that the villain of The Flash season 6 will be the Red Death, an evil Batman from another reality. Budgetary constraints will always restrict him to, at most, a two-episode plot. No doubt that means The Flash season 6's Gorilla Grodd episode will feature a version of the villain who's more powerful than ever before - and who perhaps doesn't need advanced technology to give him the ability to control an entire city. That said, don't expect The Flash to pivot and make Gorilla Grodd the season 6 Big Bad. is forced to put Grodd in a medically-induced coma in order to keep him prisoner, clearly fearing that even power-dampening technology may not be effective against him. Exposure to the telepathic crown has enhanced Grodd's natural powers, meaning he's becoming more powerful than ever before. Gorilla Grodd" actually sets up the next one. How Powerful Will Grodd Be Next Time He Breaks Out Of A.R.G.U.S.?Ī Gorilla Grodd episode has become something of an annual tradition for The Flash, and "King Shark vs. The curious question is whether or not Grodd will seek a rematch when he inevitably awakens from his medically-induced coma. In truth, King Shark won this round because he wasn't alone.
While all attention was on the battle between the two beasts, the reality is that this is still an episode of The Flash, so it makes sense for the speedsters to be the deciding factor. With his enemy mostly defeated for him, King Shark knocks Grodd out and tears the telepathic crown from Grodd's head.Īll in all, it's a smart approach. Fortunately, King Shark isn't alone Flash and XS generate a lightning blast that knocks Grodd off his latest perch, and also jolts King Shark awake. This leaves King Shark in a sort of trance state, allowing Grodd to continue his plans unchallenged. At first Gorilla Grodd seems to be a clear winner he tricks King Shark into pursuing him, then knocks him aside and hangs him upside-down. The title fight was thrilling and well-executed, with a lot of twists and turns in the story.
